OK, I'll bite.

The past few years I've been part of a family band. The band is comprised of myself (guitar + songwriting), my then-five-year-old (voice, lyrics), and my wife (guitar, keyboards). Everything we do is fully improvised, one take. We make music just for the feelings of joy it creates, directly inspired by Don Cherry's Organic Music Theater work (my most favorite music in the world).

Our best album is called "Animal Sounds." It features my son on vocals, creating an organic song cycle of characters (all animals) that return and interact across songs. Every song was made the same way: me fiddling around playing guitar while he made up words next to me. I always kept the Voice Memo app going, later cutting out splices that were more "song" than others.

Our best song is called "Where Is Ross," inspired by our crazy dog's obsession for a person I used to share a studio with. This is also the only song with any kind of overdub — I used GarageBand to add a very amateur beat at the end, which makes it fun.

To call my POV biased would be an understatement, but I genuinely don't know of any music like this anywhere. There's something so wonderful and pure about a child singing their heart out about a world only they can see.
